Lotus Flower Trust has been asked to fund the building of a small library for the children who live close to the Monastery. There are few facilities for children in this area and using a library would be a great resource for their education. Families can’t afford books let alone computers for their children. A local NGO has already agreed to supply books. However…
The Trust has also been approached by the villagers of a remote village, Tuna, on the southern side of the Indus River, asking if we could persuade the Government to build them a bridge so they could access the main road that runs to Leh, 50km away, on the northern side of the river. There is an old ‘flying fox’ crossing the river which is dangerous, so the villagers walk two hours to the nearest bridge so they can cross to get to civilisation.
There are 55 inhabitants in this neglected village. They met our CEO early one morning, having travelled mostly on foot to his campsite near Leh. They told him of their problems, saying no one had helped them in 500 years! Mr Hunt approached a Government representative who agreed to fund the bridge if we build the library. Please help us to complete two projects in one!
