The Trust was asked by the Board and Teachers of Montessori Junior High School in Pant Nagar, to fund the extension of 5 new classrooms and 6 toilets with washing facilities. Previously there were not enough room for the students, aged 6-14 years, who attend. The toilet and washing facilities were extremely inadequate. The children all come from poor farm, road and factory labourers’ families. The new extension now not only provides more space for the children attending but offers an intake increase to children from nearby villages who were previously unable to go to school. The female teachers who run the school are keen to promote education for girls, thus the fees are lower for the girls here, in order to encourage their families to send them.
